In comparison with Westerners, Chinese like very much to recall their 5 000 year long history!
When I was 6 years old, my father, a poor tailor, asked me to learn by heard Chinese poetry written in Tang dynasty (625 – 901) and Song dynasty (965 – 1265). From then on, I adore Chinese poetry, full of simplicity and beauty. Examples through Chinese charecters:
When the ear of wheat (禾) is burned by the heat of the sun (火), Autumn(秋) has arrived. Indeed, The word autumn in Chinese is composed of the ear of wheat and fire: 禾 + 火 = 秋.
When autumn (秋) arrives, the heart (心) becomes sad as cloud is all over head. In Chinese, the word of sadness is composed of autumn and heart.秋 + 心 = 愁
Chinese culture is full of poetry, and not of money!
